Beet and Apple Smoothie

Beet and Apple Smoothie
1 Beetroot, peeled and steamed
1 green or red apple, cored
1 ripe banana, peeled
1/2 cup low-fat plain yoghurt
1/2 cup mineral water
a handful of chopped almonds or toasted pine nuts to garnish

Peel the raw beetroot and steam it, then cool. Chop the beet and apple. Add water in the smoothie maker/blender and drop in the beet first followed by apple, banana, and blend. When half done add the yogurt and run the blender again.

Remove from blender and serve with chopped almonds and/or toasted pine nuts on top.

This smoothie is full of iron, vitamin C and natural sugars found in beetroot.
