Why should you care about healthy living tips? To lower your cholesterol? Or perhaps to get rid of an annoying aliment in your life? To have bounding energy?
I say that healthy living is more than that. Let’s dig a little deeper into that question... Why?
Why do we want to become healthier? The secret to all the healthy living tips out there stands on the foundational WHY.
In my head, I know that binging on Big Macs and shakes repetitively can cause my body to become sluggish, rot my teeth, raise my cholesterol, cause skin problems, the list goes on. But does all that knowledge really stop me from eating it?
Usually not.
I need to dwell on a deeper reason to know why I want to become healthier. What kind of reasons are there?
Get a paper and pen out. Start writing ideas down as we go along. You might just surprise yourself with ideas.
A great place to start on the importance of health is our overall well being. We all don’t want to feel sluggish and worn down. We all want to have that spring in our step as we go about our day. Learning to be consistent is important for long-lasting health benefits.
That still doesn’t bring us to the heart of the matter of why we want to be healthy. How about you go blend up a fruit smoothie, and let's chat about it!
The next reason deeper may be for our loved ones. Family brings warmth into our lives. We all want to be there for our parents, siblings, kids, grandkids, great grandkids. But how can we tend our loved ones, when we don’t have the energy to live our own everyday lives?
Do you aspire to just BE there for your grandkids? Or do you dream of running and playing with them as you did with your kids?
My mom jokes around that she will be climbing trees with her grandkids. We will see if she keeps her word, when my kids are a little bit older. :)
Side note... My kids are older. she has never climbed trees... But she has been actively involved with my kids this whole time!
Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional.

On a more serious note...
Let’s get deeper yet?
Why are you here? What is your purpose? You have the privilege to believe in whatever you would like. That is the beauty of being a human being. We have a choice!
I personally believe that there is a higher being who created us. God loves us and wants us to know Him personally. If we seek Him, He will reveal Himself.
If you want to dive deeper into WHY you are on this earth and your purpose in life, I would suggest that you read this terrific book called Purpose Driven Life written by Rick Warren. You will not be disappointed.
What would you like your legacy to be? How do you want people to remember you? Are you impacting the lives of other’s around you?
I don’t know about you, but I want to have an overabundance of energy and health to be able to pour my life into others.

Yes, I could just abuse my body and still pour my life into others and teach healthy living tips. But the many meals of hot dogs, TV dinners, and sodas run a toll on my body. Eventually, my youthful fuel starts to run on low and disease starts to overtake my body. Before long, I am not the one giving; I am the one receiving.
It may take years. But the reoccurring abuse of feeding our bodies junk will come to haunt us sooner than later.
Before you know it, you will be dependant on loved ones to take care of you.
I am not saying that we need to live independently until we die of old age. I am saying that our world is becoming used to surviving on drugs and machines. They may give you more quantity of years to your life, but will it give you more quality to the years left in your life?
I would much rather live a short vibrant life than a long life barely lived.
It’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years.
