Beginning My Green Smoothie Lifestyle

by Anonymous

I'm a college student(male), and a bit overweight. I weigh 205 pounds, and want to lose about 20 pounds and keep it off. I've already lost 20 pounds through exercise, but seem to have hit a wall.

So, I decided it was time to eat healthier. A lot healthier. I saw a clip online about green smoothies and thought I'd give it a try. I started drinking green smoothies last Friday, although I've only had 3 quarts. I use a lot of spinach, kale, and chard, and also use strawberries (awesome for flavor!), pomegranate, apples, lemon, kiwi, or whatever else I feel like using as my fruit (usually a whole apple, handful of strawberries, and a small amount of lemon).

The first batch did not taste the best, but I still chewed and swallowed all 6 cups of it- over 2 days. The second batch tasted GREAT ! ! ! I actually JUST finished my 3rd quart tonight. Can't wait to get up in the morning and bother my neighbors with my loud blender...

Since incorporating green smoothies into my diet, I honestly have not had the urge to sit around and eat a bunch of junk food and watch stupid clips on ebaums world! I feel as though I have a lot more energy. In fact, the other day I only had 3 hours of sleep, drank a green smoothie for breakfast, and it gave me the energy I needed to get through a long day of classes! (I know only 3 hours of sleep is HORRIBLE for you! I had a paper to write...oh the college years!)

Anyway, this is just an introductory way for me to keep track on the changes I'm making to be healthier! I'm really really excited to see how this works out.
