Imagine how thrilled I was to come across your site (high in rankings, of course!) and, as a fellow SBIer, immediately know it was a trustworthy site that would provide me real and useful information. Sure enough, you absolutely have and I've been able to incorporate many more greens into my diet.
Cheap and Healthy Smoothies To Go
As a busy person constantly on the go in New York City, and like many, with no dishwasher, I wanted to share a few tips:
1) The Magic Bullet - is the best blender for my lifestyle. Since it comes with over 5 cups with tight reusable lids, I can make a smoothie every day of the week and not have to pull apart and wash the blender every day!
For those of us without dishwashers, this is an incredible time saver! On really busy weeks, I can also prepare several individual smoothies at a time, keep them in the fridge and just blend them in the morning.
2) Organic Frozen Fruit from Trader Joes - of course, fresh in season fruit is usually the best. But, it's always not available, and not always affordable.
Trader Joe's to the rescue. For those of us who live in TJs areas, we know their food is significantly less expensive (usually half the price) than the regular market, and especially Whole Foods.
Since the fruit is frozen at the peak of freshness, it is often fresher non frozen fruit, depending on the season. Plus, the frozen consistency really thickens a smoothie and it blends perfectly. This way, I always have a smoothie ready home. They have individual fruit as well as mixes: strawberry, blackberry, raspberry, blueberry, mango, peach and more.
My day is always better when I start it with a full load of fruits, veggies, and protein powder. I can tell by my energy level, and the lack of late-in-the-day hunger. Thanks to your tips, DaNae. I've gotten so much better at it.
Warmest Regards,
Melissa
