Do you like snacking on cherries? Yes? Then you are a perfect candidate for making these healthy smoothie recipes!
Cherries add a terrific flavor to any smoothie. Enjoy making a variety of different flavored smoothies with a twist of cherry. Some of personal favorite fruits to add to cherry smoothies are blueberries, mango, lemon, and/or peach.
#1 Buy Frozen Cherries
Unless in season, fresh cherries can be
hard to locate or expensive. I learned this when I was pregnant with my 2nd son. I just had this uncontrollable urge to eat cherries all the time. But I couldn't find fresh cherries anywhere. That's when I found out how tasty frozen cherries can be. They definitely helped with my cravings.
You can buy cherries frozen that are
already conveniently pitted. Or you can pit your own fresh cherries
before blending into your smoothies. I don't have time for that!
#2 Freeze Cherries Yourself
During cherry season, you can buy cherries in bulk and freeze them yourself.
Thoroughly wash and remove the stems from all of the cherries. Remove the pit either with a sharp knife or a cherry pitter.
Place all of the cleaned cherries onto a cookie sheet. To keep the cherries from freezing onto the cookie sheet... make sure they are dry or lay down parchment paper first. Make sure that the cherries are not stacked on top of each other. Place the cherries into a freezer. After a couple of hours, take the cherries out of the freezer and pour them into a size appropriate freezer bag.
They are now ready to use at your convenience! Smoothie Time!
I hope that you enjoy these cherry smoothies as much as my family has.
