I started a green smoothie regime upon ending my use of oral contraceptives. I believe the smoothies have helped get rid of the yeast overgrowth and acne that was brought on by the birth control pills.

Now, my skin looks pretty good. I rarely get the inflamed, angry acne that I used to while on the pill. After drinking green smoothies, my skin is glowing! And although I DO get acne, it's small and easily clears. The red marks from my scary inflamed contraceptive acne are diminishing as well.

My bowel movements are much better. I am prone to constipation, and smoothies have helped. Smoothies are a good way to get fiber, AND liquid (a much forgotten portion of the arsenal to fight constipation).

I feel calmer... I suggest drinking green smoothies and starting to meditate!(Think body and mind)

It feels lovely being nourished. Smoothies are a great way to get more fruits and vegetables in your diet. They allow me to drink about 2-3 cups of greens, half an avocado, 2 pieces of fruit, handful of berries, cup or so of probiotic yogurt, and a cup or so of pure juice all at the same time. It doesn't totally fill you up. So you are still able to eat afterward (helps you get even more of your daily requirements because you don't feel as full).

And if you are worried about calories, DON'T BE! Smoothies can be made to be less caloric dense very easily. Also, it can be made to be more of a meal with a few adjustments. Try it out!
