Mel's Mix Review

by Ashley
(Kent Washington)

I do not have a green thumb by any means but... this is my first year of growing vegetables and the like. I have had a very bountiful harvest with the help of Mel's mix. Mel's mix is a mixture of peat moss, compost, and vermiculite... to make it even easier it's 1/3 of each.

It's from the book square foot gardening. I bought that book and it made complete sense to me with no "gardening mumble jumble" that I have found in other books.

With that mix literally all you have to do is water it and watch it grow. Of course you need to make sure the plants are planted in the right spot where it gets enough sun and that it is the right plants for your area. But as long as it is watered, it grows. You never have to till the ground and weeding is almost a part of the past.

*DaNae's Note: Ashley, this mix sounds great! I'll be checking into this for next year. :) Thanks for sharing it with us!
