Add a little zing into your morning with a blackberry smoothie. Check out these deliciously healthy smoothie recipes!
If you are used to making the same smoothie every day (perhaps using blueberries or strawberries) you should really break free from those habits and try blackberries.
#1 Use Frozen Blackberries
Unless you have a blackberry bush in your yard, fresh blackberries can be quite expensive. Save money by buying frozen blackberries!
Also, using frozen blackberries are convenient. You use them when you need them. This way you are not rushed to use the fresh berries before they mold.
#2 Blend Well!
Blackberries contain many little seeds... approximately 80 seeds per berry! Most people don’t like chewing on those seeds in their smoothies. They can get stuck in the crevices of the teeth and cause irritation.
Usually, you need a high quality blender to pulverize those seeds. The best blender for that job is the Blendtec Total Blender.
If you already have a lower quality blender, blend on high for a longer period of time than normal. It will not eliminate the seeds, but that will minimize the amount of seeds in your smoothie.
Another way to avoid the blackberry seeds is to blend up a bunch of fresh or thawed blackberries. Press the puree through a colander. Then pour the seedless mixture into ice cube trays and freeze for future smoothies.
With or without seeds, I really enjoy my smoothies with blackberries, and I hope that you do too!
